Who is Zarina Hashmi

Zarina Hashmi was an Indian-American artist and printmaker. She lived in New York City (America). She is widely known as one of the most significant artists associated with the minimalist movement. her work is very beautiful. She used to span drawing, printmaking, etc. with the minimalist movement. her work evokes a spiritual and mind-blowing reaction from the viewer. we are celebrating her 86th Birthday.

Zarina Hashmi was born in 1937, in Aligarh. Zarina was born into a Muslim family. Zarina's Art was informed by her identity as a Muslim born. before the partition, she lived in India in Aligarh. but at the time of partition, her family had to go to Karachi, Pakistan. She is a lifetime spent traveling from place to place. she never forgot his religion in a hard situation. 

she always used visual elements from Islamic religious decoration. In her artwork, she especially uses geometry commonly found in the Islamic religion.

On 16 July 2023, Google celebrate her 86th Birthday.

Hashmi had four siblings. at the age of 21 something she married a young foreign service diplomat. She spent lots of time traveling. she spent her time in Paris, Japan, and Bangkok. where she improves her artwork. 

After that, she moves to New York City in 1977 and where she studied law and become a strong advocate for women. After that, she joins a feminist publication that explores the intersection of art, politics, and social justice.


Peoples all over the world continue to praise Hashmi's artwork in the Department of Collections at the San Francisco Museum of modern art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
